Interactions between host genetics, cellular immunity, and viral pathogenesis.
My laboratory studies the interplay between viruses, genomics, and host immunity for medically important human pathogens including HIV, Zika virus, and SARS-CoV-2. Ongoing projects include detecting respiratory viruses in air samples, understanding the future threat posed by prolonged SARS-CoV-2 infections, testing medical countermeasures for Zika virus, characterizing how health disparities influence SARS-CoV-2 variation, and using state-of-the art genome sequencing to understand variability in genes involved in viral immunity.
