The CMP Buddy Program
The CMP Buddy Program helps orient students to the CMP program and graduate life in Madison, Wisconsin. Each first-year student is assigned a current CMP student as “a buddy.” “Buddies” will help to navigate issues such as finding a rotation lab or a downtown apartment.
New CMP students and their “buddies” gather on the Memorial Union Terrace at the end of the New Student Orientation Day to get better acquainted in a relaxed setting.
CMP annual American Players Theater (APT) Visit
CMP annual American Players Theater (APT) visit, which is held in Spring Green. This outdoor repertory theater event has been held for many years and provides an informal social setting for interaction by a large number of faculty trainers, students, and trainees’ family members and friends annually. Additionally, the Department of Pathology hosts a picnic for everyone affiliated with the department, which brings together students and faculty in both the basic science and clinical areas in a social setting.
Holiday Bowling Party
For a twist on a typical holiday party CMP hosts this event at UW-Madison’s Union South Bowling Alley. CMP students and trainers celebrate the winter holidays with a little friendly competition!
Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Michael N. Hart, MD Research Day
The Department of Pathology Research Day brings together faculty, staff, residents, and graduate students for a day of scientific discussions and professional development. This annual event takes place during the fall semester Welcome Week allowing new graduate students and pathology residents to become acquainted with the research being done by current CMP students and throughout the department. The full-day event includes a keynote speaker, formal presentations, a poster session and a professional development panel.
CMP Representation at Undergrad Research Fairs
Over the years, CMP student volunteers have represented our program at summer research fairs for undergraduates planning for careers in science.
Summer Celebration
Our end of the year student gathering has moved from spring to mid-summer to more fully take advantage of Madison’s natural assets. In July, CMP students gather at the Memorial Union for a late afternoon of kayaking, canoeing, or paddle boarding and concludes with snacks and conversation on the Union Terrace overlooking Lake Mendota.
