Research Summary
Tanja Dominko’s Lab focuses on the effects of tissue environment of fibroblast vehaviors during wound healing.
Research Detail
The Dominko Lab focuses on the effects of tissue environment on fibroblast behaviors during wound healing. We are interested in the molecular mechanisms responsible for oxygen and growth factor signaling during switching between pro-fibrotic and pro-regenerative cell phenotype, the role of extracellular matrix in cell fate determination, and cell-cell and cell-material interactions in three-dimensional tissue constructs. Our goals are to better understand the pathways leading to functional tissue regeneration, develop clinically relevant therapies for regenerative medicine, and accelerate translation of promising discoveries into large animal models.
