Research Summary:
The cellular and molecular mechanisms of fibrogenesis in native and transplant kidney disease
Research Detail:

We are interested in examining the cellular and molecular mechanisms of fibrogenesis in native and transplant kidney disease. To this end, we use in vitro, animal and human studies. We are currently investigating the role of Nox and heat shock protein 27 in the pathogenesis of kidney injury. Study models are rat proximal tubular epithelial cells (NRK52E cell line) and murine models of kidney transplantation, unilateral ureteral obstruction and 5/6th nephrectomy. Ongoing translational studies are examining these processes in patients with chronic kidney disease and chronic allograft nephropathy.
